SPESSARTITE GARNET

Garnet is the gemstone for January.  Garnet is a gemstone with many colors and varieties.  Under this heading, we will list only the spessartite garnet, commonly known as "mandarin" garnet.    Spessartite of a beautiful orange-yellow is found in Madagascar.  Violet-red spessartites are found in rhyolites in Colorado and Maine.
