Topaz is a popular gemstone that has been used for centuries for jewelry. The golden brown and yellow colors are classic and are the birthstone for November but are sometimes confused with the less valuable citrine. The refractive index is 1.61 to 1.64 with an orthorhombic crystal system. Most of our topaz gemstones come from Minas Gerais, Brazil.
