**Although we call this outboard a Johnson, the ID plate on the stern bracket as well as the powerhead itself indicate that it is a 1966 Evinrude outboard motor. (They are virtually identical) It seems that the previous owner wanted a carburetor with an adjustable high speed jet so he installed a 1958/59 vintage carburetor. This required the cowling to also be changed to accommodate the adjustment knobs, the result is Johnson cowling and gas tank.
