ALEXANDRITE
Alexandrite is the rare, color changing variety of chrysoberyl,
BeAlO4. It is the birthstone for June.
Alexandrite was first discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia and
was
named for its former Czar, Alexander II. Chromium gives
alexandrite
its color and depending on the light source, colors can range from
emerald
green to amethyst violet, with some variations. It is a very
durable
gemstone with a hardness of 8.5 on the mohs scale. On this page we list
