ALEXANDRITE

Alexandrite is the rare, color changing variety of chrysoberyl, BeAlO4.  It is the birthstone for June.  Alexandrite was first discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia and was named for its former Czar, Alexander II.  Chromium gives alexandrite its color and depending on the light source, colors can range from emerald green to amethyst violet, with some variations.  It is a very durable gemstone with a hardness of 8.5 on the mohs scale. On this page we list some of our finished alexandrite jewelry.  To view our loose alexandrite gemstones, click here.
